The State Lands Commission will discuss the proposed Huntington Beach desalination plant at its October 19 meeting. Please mark your calendar, and plan to attend if you are able so they can hear from concerned members of the public.

Decisionmaker: State Lands Commission
Decision: Certification of supplemental environmental impact report (EIR) and potential amendment of Brookfield/Poseidon’s existing lease of state tidelands
When: Tentative hearing on October 19, 2017

Decisionmaker: Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board
Decision: Approval of water quality permit, including determination that the Huntington Beach facility will comply with California’s 2015 desalination policy
When: Release of tentative order within 90 days of State Lands Commission’s approval of a lease and certification of EIR; date of hearing is unclear

Decisionmaker: California Coastal Commission
Decision: Approval of coastal development permit
When: following release of the Regional Water Board’s tentative order – either 90 days OR the Commission’s first  Southern California meeting that is at least 21 days from release of the tentative order, whichever is earlier
